For the past four years, Trojan Women Project has run a week-long creative writing course and holiday on the west coast of Scotland for refugees and asylum seekers participating in our drama workshops. Set in the breathtaking landscapes of Arisaig, with its sweeping hills, coastal views and wild beaches, this time away provides more than just a break.

Escaping the confines of temporary accommodation, participants are invited out of hotels and hostels into nature to enjoy some fresh air and learn new skills. in the cosy atmosphere of the Chapel House in the lovely seaside village of Arisaig, they can reflect, rest, and tell their stories.

The holiday deepens friendships, unlocks creativity and eases isolation. Some of our participants also value the freedom to cook traditional meals, an activity that is very restricted at their temporary accommodation.
