TROJANS UK 24 HOUNSLOW

TROJAN WOMEN PROJECT previously ran a refugee and asylum seeker drama project in Hounslow, open to all refugees and asylum seekers. We ran weekly drama workshops

Every Wednesday from 10.00 AM to 2.00 PM from 8th May

We ran psycho-social support and awareness raising drama workshops leading to a new adaptation of Euripides' great anti-war Greek tragedy The Trojan Women. We taught how to act and how to move on stage, helped participants write their own stories to tell the world, and weave it into Euripides' ancient text to create a brand new drama.

To ensure these vital narratives are saved for future generations, over 30 of our participants agreed to be interviewed to create a new, local oral history archive. Serving as the primary outcome of this project for the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this collection is now permanently housed at the Gunnersbury Park Museum, marking the rich, modern history of the Borough.

We believe it is very important that the communities where refugees live understand why they are in the UK, and that they have the opportunity to tell them in their own words.
