Hounslow Refugee Drama

The Trojan Women Project is proud to lead a transformative community drama initiative in Hounslow, bringing together local residents, refugees, and asylum seekers. Through our specialized drama therapy workshops, we provide a safe space for psycho-social support and creative expression, culminating in a powerful new adaptation of Euripides’ anti-war tragedy, The Trojan Women. This Hounslow production blends ancient Greek text with the deeply personal lived experiences of our participants, teaching professional acting skills while honoring the voices of those seeking sanctuary in the UK.
To preserve these essential stories, our project collaborated with the National Lottery Heritage Fund to develop an extensive oral history archive featuring interviews with over 30 participants. This vital collection is now permanently curated at Gunnersbury Park Museum, serving as a lasting testament to the resilience and modern history of the Hounslow community. We are dedicated to fostering empathy and social integration by ensuring that refugees have a platform to share their journeys in their own words, helping neighbors understand the realities of seeking refuge and the shared humanity that connects us all.
